Why we named our company Bosa.

With everything at Bosa, we came to our name with intention. It was important to choose something that aligned and lived up to our big vision and our mission to connect people with the right resources in the right moments. We wanted something simple yet powerful, and something with meaning.

We found that in Bosa — a word that has several meanings, but isn't super well-known (yet!).

"We learned that 'bosa' was chanted after a long journey by Sub-Saharan Africans who were trying to migrate to Spain,” Anastasia Tarpeh-Ellis said. “This spirit of celebration, joy and success resonated with us, even as we talked through the earliest iterations of our product. We believe everything is a journey, but that there’s joy in the small, daily victories that add up to major successes.”

As co-founders of West African/Sub-Sarahan African descent and children of immigrants, we can identify with the breakthrough. We relate to the opportunity ahead that maybe our very own parents felt, and that we feel in different ways in our own lives as we live out the vision of our immigrant parents. It's that lens that we bring to Bosa.

Our vision is to create experiences for everyone to achieve goals, dreams, and aspirations — a world where you have the tools and support for your victories, small and large. A world where you can experience that Bosa feeling for yourself.
